A 39-year old female from Texas, August 15, 2000
Edvards Rule is by far the best fiction based book I have read on the subject of BDSM. I have wondered for a long time how I would aproach the subject of alternative lifestyles with my own children...I now know that with my words of advice, they would each receive a copy of this wonderful book. Thank you Jim, for having the courage and sharing your incredible talents with us!

amazing story
I was facinated by the amazing and repulsive world of Kelli-Ann, I had so many different emotions about the whole story. the writing was amazing, it almost felt like i was a ghost sitting there watching everything that was going on with this woman and her world...this book was so well put together that for the first time I finish reading in three days a new record for me..Jim Cavalier my question is when is your next book coming out...

Amazing!
When i first heard about the content of this book... I thought "oh my".. this isn't something I would enjoy reading... But.... to my surprise... I was consumed from the very first line... :o) I have always enjoyed reading.... and this was no exception. Edvard's Rule was in my opinion one of the most amazing and well written books I have had the opportunity to read. Kelli-Ann is a character that takes your heart on an emotional roller coaster. I felt so many emotions during this entire book... sad, happy, excited, repulsed, anxious, mad... the list goes on and on... I look forward to reading more books from this excellent author, Jim Cavalier.

The Reluctant Cavalier (Signet Regency Romance)
Published in Paperback by Signet (October, 1996)
Author: Karen Harbaugh
Average review score:

A delightfully shy hero, sweet heroine and dashing Cavalier!
Karen Harbaugh is quickly becoming an author who'll feature on my 'must buy' list. This is an entertaining Regency, better than the average, in which the nice, unassuming guy definitely doesn't come last. Annabella actually chooses the shy, retiring and not very fashionable younger son of an earl over a duke, even before she discovers that the duke in question is not all he seems.

Parcifal is a wonderfully attractive hero, precisely because he is *not* dashing, or fashionable, or ruggedly attractive or popular with the ladies. He is, instead, sensible, caring and deeply in love with Annabella - but despairs of her ever noticing him. Until one night he goes to a masquerade ball wearing a Cavalier outfit belonging to one of his ancestors... He ends up saving Annabella from an attack, and surprises himself by refusing to tell her who he is, and kissing her before running off.

From then on, she's consumed with a desire to find out who her dashing Cavalier is....

I love stories about secret identities, and this one is no exception. Parcifal's Cavalier is a delicious disguise, and Annabella is suitably intrigued and enraptured, but at the same time she finds herself oddly drawn to the quiet younger son of her neighbour.

Whether or not the supernatural is at work in this book, as it is in many of Harbaugh's other Regencies, it's a heartwarming romance which I will certainly keep to read again.

Sweet and funny
I love Karen Harbaugh's regencies. She usually throws in some paranormal or mythological elements, and this is no exception, though it's much more subtle here than in some of her other books. In this book, the hero gets a little help from an ancestor in order to get the attention of the heroine. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Wonderful hero. Very sympathetic.
This is a lovely story. The hero is a retiring type, but is drawn out of his shell for the love of the heroine. I really liked him a lot.

Chilton's Repair Manual
Published in Paperback by Chilton/Haynes (January, 1993)
Author: Chilton Book Company
Average review score:

Great Job from Chilton's
I fix my car often and have a few books about it, but none come close to the depth that Chiltons puts into their books. First I do have the Haynes repair guide, but it has very few pictures and does not explain in detail about how to remove some parts of your car. If you need to buy a repair manual for your car then buy Chiltons.

it was very indepth for engine repairs that i needed to due
everyone should read this book, if you ever plan to do the work on your own car. so the car dealers won,t rip you off!!

The Flying Cavalier (The House of Winslow Series, No. 23)
Published in Paperback by Bethany House (November, 1999)
Author: Gilbert Morris
Average review score:

You can't put it down
I've enjoyed reading the entire House of Winslow series! I'm only 15 and I enjoyed the first book of this series, so much that I had to continue. I ended with this book and hope to see many more. Gilbert Morris did such a wonderful job writing his books that I've read others and one of his sons! He is by far my favorite author! His books encourage me as a Christian! Lance Winslow is a man living in France (where he went after his wife died) and is fighting against World War 1 against the Germans with airplanes. Logan Smith is wounded and sent to a hospital where Lance's sister-in-law Danielle, nurses him back to health. Jo Hellinger comes to write about this war for newspapers all the way from New York. All of them are courageous and in need of God's love. A friend, Revelation Brown, helps them all with his scripture quoting and love. The story will entrance you and you won't be able to set it down for long!

Charming
The story of Lance Winslow, in this book, was very interesting, to me. I had been bewildered from the beginning at where Lance was coming from, since he wasn't listed with the American part of the Winslow clan. I was pleased to find out, toward the end of the book, where his family had come from. His losing his wife had been very dramatic, but God had something in store for him. His daughter, Gabby, was a well written character and was charming to me, as the reader. Jo Hellinger was interesting in that she had a lot of spunk doing what she did. Mr. Morris did a good job with his book, and I hope he can keep up and finish writting the series. If he is only at World War I, he has a long way to go still.

Kentucky Cavaliers in Dixie Reminiscences of a Confederate Cavalryman
Published in Hardcover by Broadfoot Pub Co (June, 1991)
Author: Mosgrove
Average review score:

Kentucky Cavaliers in Dixie
This work is more of spin off work from the Diary of Edward O. Guerrant who served with this book's author during the Civil War. Musgrove supplements Guerrant's Diary which has been recently publlshed under the title "Bluegrass Confederate" Edited by William C. Davis. Both works fill in the gaps about the actions that were fought in Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee where the Official Records are silent. Aside from a few local histories this book is one of the few that has such information. Highly recommended for students of this area of the conflict.

Excellent KY Resource
I recently finished reading this book and found it to be one of the most interesting unit histories that I have ever read. This book is a history of the 4th Kentucky Cavalry (CSA) and is written by one of its members, George Dallas Mosgrove. It recounts the service of this unit in Eastern Kentucky and Southwest Virginia and under the command of Generals Humphrey Marshall, John Hunt Morgan, "Grumble" Jones, and others. It also provides a roster of members of the 4th and biographies of the Captains. The "classical" writing style of the author is evident throughout the book, yet it always keeps your attention and is easy to read. For those who have an interest in Kentucky units or the war in Southwest Virginia, this book is for you.

Adventures in Music Listening
Published in Paperback by Warner Brothers Publications (August, 1997)
Authors: Leon Burton, William Hughes, and Debbie Cavalier
Average review score:

Terrific resource for general music teachers.
If you have not tried Bowmar's Adventures in Music Listening for listening lessons, I would highly recommend it. There are two different levels available: K-2 and 3-5, with a third level for grades 6-8 still to be published. Level 1 has 32 lessons with outcomes and content standards that correlate to the National Standards for Music Education. The Teacher's Edition includes a CD with an exerpt for each lesson, which is the part that I love the most, since the excerpts are brief and focus on one or two specific musical concepts. Level 1 also has a Big Book with pictures for each of the lessons, a student activity book and a student coloring book available. Level 2 has the Teacher's Guide/CD and a student activity book. I have used this resource in my general music classroom over and over and my students are thrilled when they see the workbooks pulled out. They love to listen and look at the pictures in the big book/coloring book.

Ben Jonson and the Cavalier Poets: Authoritative Texts, Criticism
Published in Paperback by W.W. Norton & Company (April, 1975)
Authors: Hugh MacLean and Ben Jonson
Average review score:

Authoritative, indeed!
This volume claims to have the authoritative texts of poems by Ben Jonson and his followers (including Richard Corbett, Robert Herrick, Thomas Carew, Thomas Randolph, and Edmund Waller, among others). This claim is certainly a fair one. Also incuded are wonderful, relevant critical essays, some of them modern, some written by Jonson and his contemporaries. The essays and the variety of poets give this edition a feeling of completness; it is very good to have one poet's work right next to the responses of other poets to said work.

The poetry itself, of course, is wonderful. During their lives, Jonson's work was thought to rival that of Shakespeare. These comparaisons are perhaps eaiser to understand when reading Jonson's still-easily-accessible poetry than when reading his plays.

This volume is essential to any reader of Jonson.
